Stamping on Candles

This is a great gift idea. Stamped candles are elegant to receive and quick and easy to make. You do not stamp directly on the candles...the actual technique is stamping on tissue wrapping paper. I like to use crinkled, white tissue to give a textured look. If you find the directions complicated or incomplete, please do not hesitate to email Honeybear for help.

You will need:

  • A 6" white pillar candle. (Other colors aren't as nice for this technique but you can always experiment with it and find a technique you like with colored candles. Let Honeybear know if you come up with a new technique!)
  • A small piece of crumpled white tissue wrapping paper.
  • Black waterproof ink pad. (Watercolor pad)
  • Chalk palette. (Or other medium for coloring in)
  • Embossing heat tool

Instructions:

Step 1: Stamp your chosen image onto the crumpled tissue.

Step 2: Chalk in your image, coloring lightly so as not to tear the delicate tissue.

Step 3: Trim close to the design with a pair of sharp scissors.

Step 4: Position stamped and colored image on to the candle in desired location.

Step 5: Heat carefully with heat tool...allowing wax to melt a little so the tissue joins the candle, being careful not to overheat and melt candle to the point of dripping.

Step 6: Buff candle with a piece of old panty hose until you restore the initial shine of the candle.

Step 7: Place into cello bag, twist top and tie with a nice piece of ribbon.
