What people are saying about the Amish Letter Fold Envelope Templates (Kit)
Wow, I received my Amish Letter template today and it is so awesome. It is so much nicer than I imagined You certainly have made a very nice package and I am impressed with it. I would love to be kept on your list for a new and improved template if one should be made. I have already folded my first envelope, not stamped yet, but I love the ideas you included. Your card is soooooooo neat! Is that the crayon technique that you described in the instructions? I just love it! I will practice until mine are as nice. Again, thanks so much for the quality template and beautiful card/envelope.

I was working at home today and my template showed up. I had to stop everything and try folding a piece of paper. It was so easy to use. Thanks for putting this together! I think this will be great when I need to type someone a letter. I will print the letter on CS and then stamp up the other side. I can now still send letters in style! Thanks again!

Amish Letter Fold Envelope Template
(introduced by Linda S. Stiles to SUDSOL in 3/2001)
Available now as a PDF download! Sturdy plastic templates are also available while supplies last (we found a few more in storage!) See below for details.
I am overwhelmed with the email this has generated, so please read this and the FAQ list before you e-mail me. Then, if you still have questions or want to drop me a line, go ahead. :)
I once saw a really cool letter folded up and sealed with a stamp in the corner. Then I saw it again in class one day, and the teacher said....the Amish use this to save paper, no envelope needed. The sample he showed was letter size and not quite what I would have use for....however...I knew it was a cool concept I had to use somehow. Several months later I designed what is now the Amish Letter Fold Envelope Template. This template is designed for you to create an A2 size envelope to hold a card or to actually BE a card.
This really is a cool technique. It actually turns an 8 1/2 x 11 cardstock or paper into a mailable envy with a special little corner fold over top where you affix postage so it is really a cool concept.
I was so pleased with this card size Letter Fold that I decided to offer it to my fellow demonstrators in template form so they could easily use and teach it to others. My first template was homemade on my computer using transparency plastic (downloadable version). I used an exacto knife to cut out the folding form and attached it to cardstock. Very homemade-ish but very useful also. At the encouragement of many fellow demonstrators I pursued my dream of designing a proffesionally produced template. This is what I now offer to you...manufactured in very sturdy green template plastic with easy to use
directions printed right on it (kit version).
FAQ's
Q. What is an Amish Fold?
A. I'll try to explain more. It is a folding technique that the Amish supposedly invented so that they could conserve paper when writing to one another. Rather than using a piece of paper and an envelope, they turned the piece of paper they'd written their letter on, into the envelope.
Very simply, with 5 simple folds they turned an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet into a 4 1/2 x 5 3/4 mailable envelope complete with a tiny triangular flap folding over the upper right corner where they could seal it nicely with their postage stamp! Very cool technique.
The Template I have offered has the instructions printed on it and includes a 8 1/2 x 11 positioning template as well as a folding form and 2 page instruction/ tip sheet.
Q. Can I use this in my stamp camps?
A. Certainly. Some are including the cost in their camps and giving one to each person in their packet of supplies.
Q. Can I tell my downline/recruits/email customers/friends about this cool template so they can get one too?
A. Absolutely, please do!
Q. Can I photo copy the 2 page instructions/tip sheet that you included?
A. Yes, you may.
HERE'S THE DEAL!!!
 | | Amish Letter Fold Envelope Template Package | I'm currently offering this template in two ways: The downloadable version is a PDF file that you can download and print on your own paper and transparency immediately after purchase. The kit version is more durable (manufactured, not homemade), but a little more expensive and you will have to wait for it to be shipped to you.
This template makes the Amish Letter Fold simple to do! Simply take an 8 1/2 x 11 sheet of paper or cardstock, position the positioning template on top, insert folding template, remove positiong template and fold up. No tracing, no cutting or tearing required...I've taken the guess work out of where to fold and created this easy to use 8 1/2 x 11 template that when folding is finished creates a charming mailing. I use text weight paper and fold up and use as an envelope or you can use it as your letter/envy in one if you like, write the letter on 8 1/2 x 11, fold up and seal. Makes fun cards as well, just use cardstock.
